Os eventos são uma parte importante da composição dos produtos turísticos,
atendendo, fundamentalmente, às necessidades do mercado de entretenimento, lazer,
conhecimento, e muitas outras motivações. O segmento de turismo de eventos é a
resposta para a crescente procura do setor hoteleiro, tendo surgido para organizar
receções para esta necessidade, dando um perfil único às localidades onde o interesse
subjacente, reside no fluxo de negócios nacionais e internacionais. Turismo de eventos e
os visitantes deste segmento são fulcrais para uma estratégia eficiente da indústria
hoteleira. Atualmente, fatores como a categoria do hotel, o preço, a localização e a marca
tornam-se insuficientes para um hotel ou cadeia de hotéis se diferenciarem da
concorrência.
Com base neste enquadramento relativo ao setor hoteleiro e a sua relação com a
área dos eventos, o presente relatório de estágio procura compreender as tarefas e o
trabalho realizado no departamento de vendas, na área de grupos e eventos do Pestana
Hotel Group. De modo a otimizar recursos humanos e financeiros, o grupo hoteleiro
partilha o departamento de vendas entre os seus dois hotéis na cidade de Madrid, o
Pestana Plaza Mayor e o Pestana CR7 Gran Vía. Deste modo, será parte integrante do
estágio a gestão de eventos dos dois hotéis, pretendendo-se compreender, de forma
detalhada, os procedimentos inerentes à organização e gestão de um grupo e evento, no
Pestana Hotel Group de Madrid.
Events are an important part of the composition of tourism products, meeting, fundamentally, the market needs of entertainment, leisure, knowledge, and many other motivations. The event tourism segment is the answer to the growing demand from the hotel sector, having emerged to plan and organise receptions for this need, giving a unique profile to locations where the underlying interest lies in the flow of national and international business. Event tourism and visitors from this segment are central to an efficient hotel industry strategy. Currently, factors such as hotel category, price, location, and brand become insufficient for a hotel or hotel chain to differentiate itself from the competition. Based on this framework concerning the hotel industry and its relationship with the area of events, this internship report seeks to understand the tasks and work carried out on the sales department, in the area of groups and events of the Pestana Hotel Group. To optimise human and financial resources, the hotel group shares the sales department between its two hotels in the city of Madrid, the Pestana Plaza Mayor and the Pestana CR7 Gran Vía. In this way, the management of events of the two hotels will be a part of the internship, intending to understand, in a detailed way, the procedures inherent to the organisation and management of a group and event at the Pestana Hotel Group in Madrid.
