Abstract(s)
O turismo religioso, em Portugal, tem a sua grande expressão em Fátima, sendo necessário conhecer o seu impacto em Santuários de menor dimensão. O estudo, em geral, procura conhecer o perfil dos peregrinos/visitantes que se deslocam até Santuário da Beata Alexandrina, em Balasar, Póvoa de Varzim. De forma mais específica pretende identificar as motivações dos visitantes, conhecer a sua origem, o meio de transporte utilizado, saber como é que visitante obteve conhecimento, descrever as atividades
desenvolvidas pelos visitantes durante a visita e saber se o santuário dispõe das infraestruturas adequadas para satisfazer as necessidades e desejos dos visitantes.
Adotou-se uma metodologia de investigação mista quantitativa e qualitativa, com base em questionários presenciais, aplicados entre abril e maio de 2018, no Santuário Alexandrina de Balasar, a 153 peregrinos/visitantes; realizou-se cinco entrevistas aos principais stakeholders envolvidos no estudo, análise de documentos e do website do Santuário. Os dados dos questionários foram tratados e analisados no SPSS versão 24 e as entrevistas e os documentos através da análise de conteúdo, no NVivo 10.
Os resultados indicam que a maioria dos inquiridos é católico, tem elevadas habilitações académicas, maioritariamente são portugueses e visitam o santuário de Balasar essencialmente por motivos religiosos. Balasar carateriza-se por possuir uma boa oferta religiosa, estacionamento, limpeza do espaço, apresentando, contudo, algumas debilidades a outros níveis. A esmagadora maioria dos inquiridos tem intenção de voltar e/ou recomendar a visita. O turismo religioso é considerado muito importante
para Balasar, contribuindo para um crescimento económico, motivando a construção do novo santuário.
Este estudo contribui para se conhecer o perfil do peregrino/visitante que se desloca até ao Santuário Alexandrina de Balasar e dar a conhecer um pouco mais da localidade. Contribui também para a análise e reflexão dos principais envolvidos sobre o que de bom tem o Santuário para oferecer e alguns aspetos que podem vir a se melhorados.
In Portugal, religious tourism has its great expression in Fatima and it is necessary to know its impact on smaller Sanctuaries. This research aims to know the profile of the visitors/pilgrims who travel to the of Sanctuary Blessed Alexandrina in Balasar, Póvoa de Varzim. It is specifically they come from, the means of transport used, to know how the visitor obtained knowledge, to describe the activities developed by the visitors during the visit and to know if the sanctuary has th desires. The study combines a quantitative and qualitative methodology. The data collection carried out is based on questionnaires, applied to 153 pilgrims/visitors, between April and May 2018, at the Balasar Sanctuary; five interviews were conducted with the main stakeholders involved in the study; document analysis and the Sanctuary website. The questionnaire data were processed and analysed in SPSS version 24 and the interviews and documents through content analysis in NVivo 10. The results indicate that the majority of respondents are Catholic, have high academic qualifications, are mostly Portuguese and visit the Sanctuary of Balasar essentially for religious reasons. Balasar is characterised by having a good religious offer, parking, clean spaces; however, there are still some weaknesses at other levels. The overwhelming majority of respondents intend to return and / or recommend the visit. Religious tourism is considered very important for Balasar, contributing to economic growth, motivating the construction of the new sanctuary. This study contributes to know the profile of the visitors/ pilgrims who travels to the Alexandrina de Balasar Santctuary and to make known a little more of the locality. It also contributes to the analysis and reflection of the main stakeholders about what good the Sanctuary has to offer and some aspects that can be improved.
