Abstract(s)
The use of leather in the automotive industry has been increasing, with the degree of requirement for more modern interiors and luxurious lines. Being leather a natural material with complex treatment, until it is possible to obtain a final product, it goes through many complex operations. Thus, it is necessary to have a deep knowledge about the operations, the equipment used and the time necessary for the productive processes. The correct management of a production line can translate into an enormous gain for the company, with higher profit margins, better manpower and final products of higher quality. The work presented here was developed in a textile manufacturing company, in the automotive area, where the production line of leather parts, layout, production times and setups, movements between operations and documentation used were analyzed. Improvements were proposed for line optimization on the shop floor and in administrative management. First, a production line analysis was carried out using production and quality management tools to identify existing problems in production line. Based on this analysis, solutions were defined and consequently analyzed for their implementation. Flowcharts of the series products, information flow diagram and value stream mapping were performed, in order to know the products that are made, their operations and the follow-up within the line. In short, it was intended to propose an optimization of a production line, so that companies with similar difficulties can use the processes described in this work and obtain better industrial results.
