Abstract(s)
Currently in Portugal, there is an increase in costs in the health industry, due to the aging of the population, the increase in the demand for health care and the investment in new technologies. The need to reduce costs arises, presenting the efficient management of the logistics systems associated to the supply with a huge potential to achieve savings in health care organizations, without compromising the quality of the service that in this type of industry, is a critical factor. In this project of the internship report it was studied the implementation of the concept of advanced warehouses, based on the executive opinions system, the Vendor managed inventory model and the consignment model, and its implementation was restricted to the digestive surgery service of Pedro Hispano Hospital. In this concept, the logistics supply process is supported by computer systems, allowing a proactive replacement based on the consumption register in the hospital services. Through this implementation, it was possible to obtain improvements in the management of stocks in the service warehouses, the level of service and the control of the materials used in the services of digestive surgery were increased, and it was also possible to release health professionals to perform their activity of providing health care to the patient, once they no longer have responsibilities in the management of stocks, since J & J was in charge of this task. The main conclusion of this study focuses on the operation of several models in parallel, as a result the Hospital Pedro Hispano can provide quality health care at a reduced cost.
