A presente reflexão escrita assiste o Projecto de Mestrado em Teatro, área de especialização Interpretação/Encenação da ESMAE, com o título Personagem em tempo real, investigação que pretende explorar as potencialidades de construção de personagem numa situação em que uma actriz é confrontada, em tempo real, por estímulos do público.
Esta é uma pesquisa que tem por base uma prática laboratorial que conduziu à construção e apresentação deste Acontecimento Teatral. Todas as sessões, laboratoriais e “finais”, foram vídeo-gravadas para posterior análise e aconteceram na ESMAE, com público diferenciado. Anexam-se registos videográficos que enformam a leitura deste documento.
Este documento organiza-se em dois capítulos e cinco subcapítulos que pretendem sistematizar as várias fases do processo. Desenha-se um conjunto de possíveis conclusões sobre esta pesquisa prática e a sua possível evolução.
Num primeiro momento, abordam-se aspectos relevantes sobre o ponto de partida e a prática da improvisação e o lugar de destaque atribuído a esta técnica, principalmente no Séc. XX, nas performances e na relação directa com o público. Trata-se, ainda, o conjunto de estudos teórico-práticos que permitiram a delimitação das possibilidades de experimentação a aplicar ao longo desta pesquisa.
Num segundo momento, são analisadas as fases da pesquisa prática, desde a escolha das personagens até às sessões “finais” deste projecto, com algumas considerações sobre as expectativas e descobertas das diferentes experiências, quer do ponto de vista do fazedor quer do receptor.
As possíveis conclusões surgem do questionamento, ao longo da prática laboratorial e das sessões “finais”, sobre as potencialidades desta investigação enquanto método de criação, experiência da relação de co-autoria e co-responsabilidade entre actriz e público, aspectos positivos e negativos da mesma no encontro com os objectivos definidos para esta pesquisa.
This monograph assists the MA’s Project in Theatre – Acting/Directing Studies from ESMAE-IPP under the title Personagem em tempo real. This is a practice-based research that aims to explore the potentialities of building a character while performing it, where the actress submits her work to the audiences’ incitements on the character and the scene, translating them on stage at the moment. This is a practice-based research that led to the construction and performance of a Theatre Event. All the research sessions and final presentations were videoed for further analyses and took place at ESMAE with differentiated audiences. The video recording provided in the appendixes should inform the reading of this document. The text is organized in two chapters subdivided in five parts and a set of final notes, suggestive of the chronological development of the MA investigation that led to this Project and development. The first part deals with the starting point and the set of theoretical and practical studies on improvisation and the role of this technics mainly on the 20th Century, both in live performance and its relation with the audience. It is also referred a set of studies that established the frame for experimenting along the research process. In the second part the process of the building of the characters and its staging till the final presentations are analyzed, fostering the discussion about expectations and findings from both the actor’s and the spectator’s view point. Finally a set of final notes was gathered. These, despite being inconclusive, allow the raising of questions that may lead into future discussions. Some of these questions relate with this process as creative method, the role of the audience as co-author and its co-responsibility in the making of theatrical event. It is also debated some of the positive and negative aspects of this object of study in meeting its goals.
