Abstract(s)
In recent years, users have increased the demand for swimming pools, implying an increase in the number of workers. The main objective of this study is to identify the main complaints of workers, describe the possible consequences for the health of workers and the population, and propose mitigation measures. Nine municipal swimming pools in the metropolitan area of Porto participated in this study. The pool workers answered a questionnaire to identify the main complaints and symptoms in the work environment. The data were processed using SPSS IBM Statistics 27. Workers' main symptoms/complaints were chlorine smell, heat, temperature differences, noise, and fatigue. As mitigation measures, it is essential to make the pool ventilation system more effective, implement regular assessments of air quality, thermal environment, noise and illuminance.
