Abstract(s)
The concept of Sustainability, as well as sustainable development, has relevance in present's context, and the demand for the search for solutions is evident, in order not only to stop the damage caused by human actions but also to provide a solid education as a way of creating more sustainable habits and practices. As such - and given the visible consequences - world leaders began to focus attention on environmental impacts, which led to the creation of sustainable measures and practices, and their evaluating methodologies, to be used locally and globally. Notably, the construction sector was the target of strong focus, since it is the sector with greatest responsibility in the environmental impact. However, in order to achieve Sustainability as a whole, it is relevant to reinforce the idea that Sustainability is only possible with the balance between its three fundamental pillars - environmental, social and economic factors. This review intends to address two major themes - the Methods of Sustainability Assessment of Cities MSAC) and the City Information Modeling (CIM). Through the revision and analysis of the available literature, an initial approach to the theme of Sustainability will be presented. Following the analysis of three MSAC - SBToolPT and LiderA - and the international standard ISO 37120, focusing on the aspects of Urban Planning, ending with an approach to the CIM system, which presents itself as a tool aid to city management. The proposed approach to the chosen themes - through bibliographic review and critical analysis - has as main objective to deepen the knowledge, that in the future can contribute positively to a common good in relation to Sustainability, sustainable development and available assessment methodologies.
