Abstract(s)
No
As práticas tradicionais no
Sustainability, based on the principles of sustainable development, is supported through human resource management practices that enable the attraction, development, and efficient management of organizations' employees. These sustainable practices bring various benefits to organizations and their employees. However, sustainability cannot be achieved solely through practices aimed at the environment, it must also extend to how employees are treated and how their well-being is promoted through actions that value their health, development, work-life balance and the provision of adequate working conditions. Similarly, a shift from the current working model, characterized by the traditional five-day workweek, to a four-day workweek is seen as a necessary initial step for people to free themselves from work-related obligations and enhance their freedom to engage in family and personal relationships. Conventional practices within the five-day work regimen often lead to overload, fatigue, and stress, which can harm employees' well-being and work effectiveness. The adoption of a fourday workweek aims to change this scenario by reducing the pressure and stress on employees, granting them more leisure time for personal, family, and recreational needs, enhancing their quality of life, fosters greater motivation, and boosts productivity in the workplace. The present study aims to analyze the scientific production on the topic of implementing the four-day workweek, with a focus on people management. To do so, a qualitative methodology, bibliometric analysis, was employed to examine the scientific literature on the four-day workweek, characterize the main associated issues, and systematize the scientific production developed regarding the impact of this methodology on people management. The results obtained show that this is an area that still lacks some study and development. However, it was possible to identify elements that are considered fundamental to take into account for the success of organizations that intend to adopt this working method, namely employee satisfaction, production levels, and the balance between their personal and professional life.
