Abstract(s)
This project stems from the need to observe and question the dilution of identity caused by the presence of globalized visual elements in territories with strong symbolic and historical significance. Drawing on Rem Koolhaas’s concept of Junkspace, it investigates graphic contamination in central areas of Porto, where urban memory is continually overlaid by a standardized and homogenized visual landscape. Through a documentary photographic practice combined with an editorial approach anchored in a sensory and discursive structure, the project develops an editorial object that assumes the role of a speculative archive. The object is organized into thematic sections: Introduction, Globalization, Gentrification, Glocalization, City, and Archive. The project situates itself at the intersection of Graphic Design, Photography, territorial reflection, and Architecture.
