Abstract(s)
In recent decades, the impact of small and medium-sized companies has become evident, both at the micro and macroeconomic levels. However, the search for knowledge and improvement in operational processes has been a necessity for these companies, this can be justified due to the high competitiveness between them. As a contribution to this improvement, the concepts and methodologies of production without waste, also known as Lean, appear as an added value for these organizations. Thus, this dissertation proposes to investigate the main difficulties that small and medium companies face when implementing Lean using a survey of case studies available in the literature. Additionally, the investigation was carried out in 4 steps to answer the proposed objectives. The first step consisted of using the VOSviewer software tool to construct and visualize bibliometric networks, with two types of analysis being performed: Co-authorship and Occurrence of words. The second and third sought to identify, respectively the main barriers and tools of a selected sample. And finally, the last step was conducted by carrying out a survey to understand SMEs' understanding of Lean and the opportunities they may have with Lean Implementation. Therefore, with the results obtained, an analysis was conducted of how Project Management can contribute to minimizing such difficulties and propose a set of good practices based on Project Management to assist SMEs in Lean Implementation.
