Abstract(s)
Num ambiente caraterizado pela alta competitividade, é necessário que as empresas estejam constantemente a inovar e focadas na melhoria contínua dos produtos e processos. Portugal é um país cujo o seu tecido empresarial é composto maioritariamente por PME, sendo estas, empresas que tendo em conta as suas características, empresas mais limitadas em termos de recursos e capacidade.
O objetivo fundamental deste estudo é perceber de que forma o modelo de inovação aberta pode potenciar o sucesso empresarial de PME do setor automóvel português.
Através de uma abordagem qualitativa, foi utilizado o método de estudos de casos múltiplos para analisar três PME que atuam no setor automóvel português. Para recolher a informação necessária foram ulizadas entrevistas e a análise de documentos.
Os resultados obtidos permitem aferir, que para a amostra presente no estudo, a inovação aberta é um modelo potenciador do sucesso empresarial das PME. O modelo da inovação aberta promove a transposição de barreiras empresariais, estimulando assim o cooperativismo e a cooperação inter-organizacional.
O estudo contribui para o preenchimento de lacunas na literatura existente, assim como dar exemplos práticos de sucesso da aplicação do modelo de inovação aberta. Estas experiências positivas, poderão ter impacto na mentalidade dos gestores portugueses, incentivando ao cooperativismo empresarial de Portugal.
In an environment characterized by high competitiveness, it is necessary for companies to constantly innovate and focus on continuous improvement of products and processes. Portugal is a country whose business environment is predominantly composed by SMEs, which, given their characteristics, are more limited in terms of resources and capacity. The main objective of this study is to understand how the open innovation model can potentially boost the business success of SMEs in the Portuguese automotive sector. Through a qualitative approach, the method of multiple case studies was used to analyze three SMEs operating in the Portuguese automotive sector. To gather the necessary information, interviews and document analysis were employed. The results obtained allow us to infer that, for the sample in this study, open innovation is an potentiator of SMEs' business success. The open innovation model promotes the overcoming of business barriers, thus stimulating cooperativism and inter-organizational cooperation. The study contributes to filling gaps in existing literature and provides practical examples of the successful application of the open innovation model. These positive experiences may have an impact on the mindset of Portuguese managers, encouraging entrepreneurial cooperation in Portugal.
