Evolution of vacancies and students' placement in higher education in Portugal

| dc.description.abstract | Universities and polytechnics are educational institutions that make decisions within the university management, taking into account various factors such as the number of vacancies to offer (not only the university, as each course itself), the courses setting strategy and his regime, the type of the course and publication. This paper presents a study on the evolution of vacancies and students placed in higher education in Portugal, taking into account an analysis of data from the page of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education from 2004 until 2015. The results show that vacancies available experienced a positive increase. However, since 2010 until the last year, there has been a progressive decrease. In relation to the number of students placed, this has been subject to fluctuations and some turning points, but in the last two years showed an increase. The most popular courses were Management and Medicine, and those who had more students were Nursing and Management. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | As universidades e politécnicos são instituições de ensino que tomam decisões no âmbito da gestão universitária, tendo em em conta diversos fatores como o número de vagas a oferecer (não só a universidade, como cada curso em si), a estratégia de definição de cursos e o seu regime, a tipologia do ciclo de estudos e a publicitação dos mesmos. Neste trabalho é apresentado um estudo sobre a evolução das vagas e colocados no Ensino Superior em Portugal, tendo em conta a análise de dados extraídos da página do Ministério da Educação e Ensino Superior desde 2004 a 2015. Os resultados demonstram que as vagas colocadas a concurso sofreram um aumento positivo. No entanto, desde 2010 até ao último ano, tem acontecido uma diminuição progressiva. Já em relação ao número de estudantes colocados, este tem sofrido oscilações e alguns pontos de viragem, mas nos dois últimos anos apresentou um aumento. Os cursos mais procurados foram Gestão e Medicina, sendo que os que tiveram mais colocados foram Enfermagem e Gestão. | pt_PT |
