Abstract(s)
A gravação sistemática,
The art of Organ Building although occasionally isolated in History description, actually follows a path with multiple crossings and deviations with other scientific and artistic areas of knowledge development. This project aims to translationally study the organ of the Santa Clara’s church in Porto (Portugal): from its restoration to the acoustic characterization of the organ and its environment and, ultimately, its sound recording and archive to integrate a sound library. The identification and classification of the main historical characteristics of the Iberian Organ Building, Santa Clara’s Church and its organ were based on focused literature review. The acoustic characterization of the instrument and the space around it were obtained by acoustic tests carried out to determine objective parameters, such as Reverberation Time and Speech Transmission Index. The recording of all the notes produced by the various organ’s stops were systematic and judicious allowing the exact sound description of the instrument in the present and support essential material to the future creation and programming of a virtual instrument.
