Abstract(s)
In many countries and particularly in Portugal, the expansion of the steel construction market has grown significantly, especially in the sector of construction of industrial buildings. In this thesis, it started by studying various existing structural solutions, by making reference to the different structural types of metal pavilions with its description of the main and secondary elements used in these buildings. It also addressed ways to avoid problems related to the design of these structures, particularly in relation to forms of wombs locking, bars and pillars. There was a study of analytical methods and models set out in EC3 and the entire design process, given the diverse phenomena of instability that the metal structures are subjected. Finally, there was the design of an industrial building (180x30x6 meters) using the methodologies of Eurocode 3. For that, we defined much calculation (2D and 3D). All the calculation was supported by the computer program Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis.
