Abstract(s)
A indústria têxtil é uma das indústrias mais predominantes da nossa sociedade,
não só em marcos de domínio financeiro, mas também no modo como adequa
tendências e se garante enquanto cultura. O presente projeto procura compreender as
eventualidades e os estímulos que o designer gráfico encara com o avanço da
tecnologia no quadro dos têxteis, e se vê num regime de comunicação recíproco.
O designer gráfico complementa esta indústria com novas e diferentes características
ao trabalhar com tecido, mas a diferença aqui, habita nomeadamente noutras questões,
pois, por norma, o designer gráfico “brinca” com o papel, mas também o pode fazer
com o tecido.
O objetivo deste trabalho consiste na concretização de um projeto de mestrado com o
tema “Caracterizar Portugal em Padrões para Tecido”. O resultado foca-se num projeto
gráfico de comunicação que demonstre as aplicações e influência do design gráfico na
representação da identidade nacional, utilizando como veículo padrões para tecidos.
Com estes padrões propõe-se a representação dos 18 distritos portugueses, a partir dos
símbolos e/ou de características mais icónicas.
Este relatório divide-se em três partes: introdução e contextualização histórica,
contextualização contemporânea do designer gráfico e do universo dos têxteis e dos
padrões perante o print-on-demand e o contexto da indústria têxtil. Por último, o
enquadramento prático, onde mostra não só o projeto final, mas também as suas
dificuldades e projeções futuras.
The textile industry is one of the most predominant departments of our society, not only in terms of the financial domain, but also in the format in which it adapts to trends and guarantees itself as a culture. The current project seeks to understand the eventualities and stimuli that the graphic designer faces with the advancement of technology in the context of textiles, and if a reciprocal communication regime is seen. The graphic designer complements this industry with new and different characteristics when working with fabric, but the difference here resides in other issues, as the graphic designer usually “plays” with paper, but he can also do it with fabric. The objective of this work is to carry out a master's project with the theme "Characterizing Portugal in Patterns for Fabric". The result focuses on a graphic communication project that demonstrates the applications and influence of graphic design in the representation of national identity, using patterns for fabrics as a vehicle. With these patterns, it is proposed to represent the 18 Portuguese districts, based on the most iconic symbols and/or characteristics. This report is divided into three parts: introduction and historical context, contemporary context of the graphic designer and the universe of textiles and patterns in the face of print-on-demand and the context of the textile industry and finally the practical framework, where it shows not only the final project, but also its difficulties and future projections.
