Abstract(s)
A triagem e
frequentar a creche do Abrigo, 39 crianças e 11 funcionários.
Introduction: It is of great importance the early screening of any alterations in the child development, in order to prevent major damages. For this to happen everyone around the child must be implicated. The presence of a physiotherapist in the multidisciplinary team should be considered. Objectives: There are two main golds for this work. One is to increase the knowledge level of parents and institution workers about child development in the 0-3 years old stage. The other is to detect any kind of alterations and/or delays undisclosed until know in the observed population. Sample: The sample for this study (work) was built with forty five parents with children in the Abrigo day care center, thirty nine children and eleven day care center workers. The thirty nine children were evaluated with the Denver II Screening Test. Parents and day care workers reply to a questionnaire for sample characterization. Meetings were made to inform parents about the evaluation results. A training session was made, for parents and day care workers, where knowledge assessment was made before and after the training. Results: Almost all parents want to have training in child development. From the thirty nine evaluated children, two development delays were detected and sent to further evaluation. After evaluation an increase of knowledge was verified among day care center workers. The same happened for parents but only for the first training session. Concerning the second one the participation was not enough in order to have a proper analysis. Conclusion: The presence of a physiotherapist in child communities, like day care centers, kindergartens and others, would benefit these institutions. The health professional would have an important role in promoting health.
