dc.description.abstractThis dissertation investigates the effects of different leadership styles on project success in different organizational contexts. Leadership plays a very important role in the success of projects and, consequently, in the growth of organizations since the success of projects is a very important factor in the growth of organizations. This study looks at a variety of leadership styles, including transformational leadership, transactional leadership, laissez-faire leadership, and analyzes the effect of the different leadership styles adopted by project managers on project success, since the definition of success can be quite complex. The research involved an extensive literature review and empirical research with project leaders and managers from different organizations in northern Portugal. The results indicate that choosing the right leadership style for a particular project can have a significant impact on its success. It was found that transformational leadership is often associated with exceptional project results, while transactional leadership is excellent at adapting to the changing needs of projects. However, the effectiveness of the leadership style depends on the nature of the project, the organizational culture and the characteristics of the team. The people and project teams are also a strong contributor to the success of the project. This study contributes to the understanding of the nuances of leadership and provides practical guidance for project leaders and managers in the selection and effective application of leadership styles to achieve project success. In addition, it highlights the importance of recognizing the diversity of leadership styles and adapting them as necessary to meet the specific challenges of each project.pt_PT
