Abstract(s)
This research aims to analyze female participation in leadership positions at the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of Mato Grosso (IFMT) – Cuiabá Campus Cel. Octayde Jorge da Silva, from 2010 to 2023. The study investigates the barriers faced by women in attaining and sustaining leadership roles, highlighting possible influences of factors such as the double workload and the “glass ceiling”—an invisible barrier that prevents women from reaching high-level positions. The methodology applied is a case study with a quantitative, bibliographic, and exploratory approach. Although female representation has historically been low, the results indicate a significant increase in women’s presence in leadership roles over the period analyzed. However, women remain underrepresented in positions with greater decision-making power, specifically CD-01, CD-02, and CD-03, and are more concentrated in CD-04 positions, which have the least decision-making authority among the four levels. The research concludes that, despite progress, gender equity at IFMT still requires more effective institutional policies to ensure equal opportunities and foster an inclusive work environment for all female staff members.
