A ideia inicial do trabalho era o dimensionamento de um sistema de rega, automatizado, onde se previsse um controlo sobre a água gasta, sendo que o mesmo fosse do ponto de vista ambiental viável e que se baseasse nos princípios gerais da sustentabilidade, por outras palavras, que incluísse o uso de águas da chuva e sistemas de transformação de energia elétrica de fontes renováveis para uma horta comunitária situada na cidade do Porto. No caso em estudo, dimensionou-se o sistema com os pressupostos acima indicados, bem como se realizou o orçamento para os materiais necessários à sua implantação. Verificouse, porém, que o valor final para a construção deste tipo de sistemas é elevado, não pelo valor unitário de cada elemento, mas pela quantidade total de peças a instalar. Apesar da área em estudo se encontrar num centro urbano, mostrou-se que é possível implantar um sistema que cumpra com os objetivos definidos, deduzindo-se que para uma área rural a implementação deste tipo de sistemas seja mais agradável do ponto de vista ambiental e económico.
The initial idea behind this project was the design of an automated irrigation system, where there was a control system for the use of water, from a viable environmental point of view, and based on the general principles of sustainability, in other words, the system had to include the use of rainwater and the use of electricity obtained through renewable sources, in a community garden situated in the city of Oporto. In the study case, the system was designed, with the assumptions indicated above, as well as the budget for the materials needed for its implementation. However, it was verified that the final value for the construction of this type of systems is high, not by the unit value of each element, but by the total number of pieces to install. Although the study area is located in an urban area, it has been shown that it is possible to implement a system that meets the defined objectives, deducing that for a rural area the implementation of this type of systems is more environmentally and economically attractive.
