Population ageing has become more noticeable, especially in more developed countries, and is considered one of the most significant social transformations of the 21st century.Medication-taking behavior is extremely complex and individual, requiring numerous multifactorial strategies to improve adherence. In recente years, considerable attention has focused on the evolving role of pharmacists technicians in the delivery of health care services. Pharmacy technicians can play a vital role in promotion, administrations, and implementation of community-based adherence programs. Individualized Medication Preparation emerges as na option to be considered by patients, their families and the health professionals accompanying them. This service has as main objectives to provide the patient with the right medicine, in the right dose and at the right time. Identify current evidence regarding the implementation and use of MDD systems, possible solutions that could lead to its improvement, particularly in the elderly population. A scoping review of literture was conducted with collected articles in the main databases, Pubmed and EBSCO. Studies applying outcome measures that were associated with the appropriateness of user’s experience, the safety oh these dispensing systems, quality interventions, technological innovations or regarding the payment for MDD systems were included. A total of 1857 relevant references were found. Of these, 1706 references were included in the bstract screening phase and 71 were chosen for full-text article review. Fifteen articles were shortlisted for data extraction and quality assessment. MDD systems can be considered as a viable solution but ultimately depends on the individual patient’s situation.
