A presente investigação aborda a criação de uma rota turística literária inspirada na obra do escritor Mário Cláudio na região Norte de Portugal. O objetivo principal foi identificar a importância do turismo literário para a região norte de Portugal através do desenvolvimento de um percurso turístico estratégico que valorize tanto o património literário quanto cultural da região. Pretendeu-se averiguar o potencial turístico de locais associados à obra deste escritor, de modo a valorizar os territórios onde se integram, bem como as condições apresentadas pela região Norte para a prática deste tipo de turismo. Segundo Pereira e Marques (2022), o Turismo Literário permite o desenvolvimento turístico regional, de modo a valorizar os territórios onde ocorre, dado que os promove culturalmente e evoca a sua memória. Poderá existir uma interação desenvolvida com a comunidade local, contribuindo para a vertente socioeconómica da região. Mário Cláudio é um escritor que aborda diversos locais emblemáticos da cidade do Porto e do Alto Minho, percorrendo e descrevendo paisagens nortenhas (Costa, 2019). Estes factos fazem com que este seja um autor importante para a prática de turismo literário na região, que necessita de uma maior oferta neste segmento. A metodologia utilizada consistiu num método qualitativo, através da realização de entrevistas semiestruturadas constituídas por estudiosos do autor, investigadores e profissionais da área do turismo e literatura, bem como o próprio autor. Para além disso, foi realizado um estudo sobre o escritor e sua obra, com recolha e de localizações para a elaboração e apresentação da respetiva rota. Os resultados indicaram que a criação de uma rota baseada na obra de Mário Cláudio oferece um potencial significativo para o turismo da região Norte, concluindo-se que o turismo literário pode contribuir para a valorização cultural e o desenvolvimento socioeconómico da região, devendo ser implementado com uma estratégia cuidadosa e sustentável.
This research addresses the creation of a literary tourist route inspired by the work of the writer Mário Cláudio in the northern region of Portugal. The main objective was to identify the importance of literary tourism for the northern region of Portugal through the development of a strategic tourist route that values both the literary and cultural heritage of the region. The aim was to ascertain the tourism potential of sites associated with the work of this writer, in order to enhance the territories in which they’re located, as well as the conditions presented by the northern region for this type of tourism. According to Pereira and Marques (2022), Literary Tourism allows for regional tourism development in order to enhance the territories where it takes place, as it promotes them culturally and evokes their memory. There can be a developed interaction with the local community, contributing to the socio-economic aspect of the region. Mário Cláudio is a writer who covers various emblematic places in the city of Porto and Alto Minho, travelling through and describing northern landscapes (Costa, 2019). These facts make him an important author for the practice of literary tourism in the region, which needs a greater offer in this segment. The methodology used consisted of a qualitative method, through interviews made up of scholars of the author, researchers and professionals in the field of tourism and literature, as well as the author. In addition, a study was carried out on the writer and his work, with the collection of locations for the development and presentation of the respective route. The results indicated that the creation of a route based on the work of Mário Cláudio offers significant potential for tourism in the northern region, concluding that literary tourism can contribute to the cultural valorization and socio-economic development of the region, and should be implemented with a careful and sustainable strategy.
