Abstract(s)
Technological advances are being used in almost all branches of human knowledge. Increasingly, those so-called "new technologies" are present in people's daily lives. This evolution of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) allows the majority of the population to have access to information, which brings profound changes in several areas of knowledge, especially in the academic field, where knowledge is discussed and constructed. This research aims primarily to analyze the perception that teachers of subjects from the common core of Technical Courses Integrated to the High School of Maintenance and Support in Informatics, Edifications and Electrotechnics of Federal Institute of Education Science and Technology (IFG) – Campus Jataí – have on the use of ICT in the teaching-learning process, in order to verify if they are prepared to incorporate the use of these technologies in their classrooms, in view of an education that goes beyond the mere transmission of knowledge. A case study was carried out on the preparation of teachers for the use of ICT in the classroom, based on the data collected through the application of a questionnaire to teachers. The objectives focused on uncovering which are the ICT that teachers use in terms of diversity and frequency; verify if teachers had appropriate initial training for the integration of ICT in the classroom; which is the relevance of ICT as tool to facilitate teaching and learning; and identify if there are and which might be the future needs of teacher training. Research shows that the great majority of teachers did not undertake initial technological training, nor any type of training devoted to the integration of ICT in the classroom. Concerning the use of ICT, teachers report on the use of traditional hardware and software applications based on the web and essentially to support communication. The advantages of using ICTs include speed, diversification of context and increased motivation. As for limitations, they refer to insecurity, access difficulties and lack of pedagogical training. Unanimously, teachers feel the need for continued training in personal, technical and pedagogical skills.
