Abstract(s)
This study consists of a research about historical and musicological aspects related to the final movement, Finale, of the Sonata in B-flat minor Op. 35 by Frédéric Chopin. The musical notation of this movement’s score, with sparing interpretive suggestions, motivated this research, aiming to realize different interpretations given to it by several pianists in the 20th and 21th centuries. This dissertation contains a literary review of the context in which the Sonata was conceived and aspects of Chopin’s compositional style, as well as a comparative study of nineteen recordings of the Finale made by different pianists and an interpretive perspective proposed by this author.
