Abstract(s)
A presente Dissertação visa analisar o contributo de Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) para o desenvolvimento técnico e interpretativo do fagote, uma vez que, até à época, nenhum outro compositor havia escrito tão ferverosamente para o instrumento.
Para tal, partiu-se do estudo da biografia e da obra de Vivaldi, contextualizando-a na cidade de Veneza e, posteriormente, procurou-se compreender as principais características do período em que o compositor esteve inserido: o Barroco.
De seguida, explorou-se a obra para fagote, tentando entender qual o motivo que conduziu Vivaldi ao interesse pelo instrumento, que, naquele período, passava por uma fase de declínio. Verificada a carência de fontes e documentos acerca do tema em análise, tentou-se recolher a opinião de fagotistas experientes no âmbito da música deste período e do fagote barroco; desta forma, foi elaborado um guião de entrevista semiestruturado que foi, posteriormente, enviado a Alberto Grazzi, Donna Agrell e Carlo Colombo. Com base nos dados recolhidos, completou-se a informação analisada. Finalmente, foram utilizadas e comparadas as performances de Klaus Thunemann e Sergio Azzolini, partindo das gravações de ambos do Concerto em Sol Maior, RV 493, para fagote, orquestra de cordas e baixo-contínuo de Antonio Vivaldi, por forma a sistematizar e analisar as diferenças interpretativas entre ambas as gravações.
The aim of the present Dissertation is to gain a better understanding of the composer Antonio Vivaldi (1678 -1741) and to know how his music contributed to the technical and interpretative development of the bassoon, since, to date, no other composer had emphasized this instrument. To this end, it started from the study of Vivaldi's bibliography, seeking to contextualize his life and work in the city of Venice, through understanding and linking to the main characteristics of the period in which the composer was inserted: the Baroque. Subsequently, the bassoon work was explored, and an attempt was made to understand why Vivaldi became interested in the instrument, which at the time was undergoing a phase of decline. After understanding the lack of sources and documents that addressed the above mentioned theme, a semi-structured interview script was made and sent to experienced bassoonists in the field of music and the baroque bassoon, to highlight: Alberto Grazzi, Donna Agrell and Carlo Colombo. In order to achieve greater accuracy in the data and in the comparison of musical interpretations, the performances of Klaus Thunemann and Sergio Azzolini were used and compared, starting from the recordings of both the Sol Maior Concert RV 493, for bassoon, string orchestra and thoroughbass by Antonio Vivaldi.
