Abstract(s)
Film tourism, as a territorial promotion strategy, can generate advantages for localities, in particular by helping to increase their attractiveness. This new trend presents a diversity of tourist activities, thus creating new motivations on the part of tourists, which make this segment diversified and attractive. The objectives of this research are to understand the evolution of tourist attractions and destinations with the influence of series and cinema, particularly with regard to the importance of film tourism for the development of the village of Monsanto. Specifically, we intend to ascertain empirical knowledge about this concept, identify tourists' motivations for practising this type of tourism and analyse the impact of the series "House of the Dragon" in economic and social terms on the village of Monsanto, thus identifying the positive and negative points of film tourism in the development of a locality. The methodology used consisted of a mixed approach, with a quantitative approach being used initially through a questionnaire to inhabitants, shopkeepers and visitors, and then a qualitative approach through interviews with organisations linked to the main theme of this research. The results were subjected to statistical analyses in order to authenticate the research conclusions. The main conclusions indicate that this segment is still a developing world. However, we were also able to conclude that this type of tourism has a significant influence on the development of localities and tourist attractions, and that it is indeed a segment that motivates and arouses the interest of tourists.
