Abstract(s)
This document provides a summary of the activities developed during the internship at NCREP - Consultoria em Reabilitação do Edificado e Património, Lda., and it aims to share the knowledge and experience acquired during the internship. It addresses the subject of inspection, diagnosis and intervention on rehabilitation of buildings, highlighting the importance of a deeper analysis of buildings, where inspection and diagnosis emerge as essential tools in the final intervention. The work presented in this document was based, mainly, in two case studies developed during the internship, namely a museum and two wineries. For the case study of the museum a general description is carried out, as well as a structural characterization and subsequently the damages observed and the possible causes for its occurrence. The inspection carried out was followed by in situ tests, which were then analyzed. In this case study, there was also a chronological organization of the interventions, which allowed to date the age of the structural elements that existed in the building, as well as damage that still endures. In addition to the inspection, a numerical analysis for vertical and horizontal loads was made. The museum’s case study was fundamentally oriented to the field of Inspection and Diagnosis of structures. The case study of the wineries includes the component of inspection and diagnosis of two warehouses, and extends to the rehabilitation design project. A structural characterization was performed, as well as a presentation of the observed anomalies and the evaluation of conservation state. Finally, a safety assessment is carried out. Some suggestions about the most important global interventions and their corresponding design are also made, based on the conclusions obtained from the inspection and diagnosis phase. At last, some internally works for the purpose of process optimization and calculation are presented, such as creation of a program that organizes the results obtained from Resistograph®. Furthermore, a spreadsheet was also created to calculate the strengthening of existing timber floors, using other timber elements.
