Abstract(s)
Particular institutions of social solidarity are entities constituted by individuals or by the Church (under canon law), not for profit, and are not administered by the State. Historically, these organisations act, where the private and the state do not arrive. Its genesis is linked to poverty, the neediest and most deprived, but also to education and disability. Due to a more difficult economic and social context and the need for internal reorganisation, the institution is going through a complicated period and the need to review some management processes was the motto for this investigation. As data collection instruments, documentary analysis, the semi‐structured interview and the questionnaire were used. The data collection was carried out in an institution created more than forty years ago to respond to a need of the parish, that is, the well‐being of the children. In methodological terms, a case study was chosen, in a mixed research line, although with a qualitative predominance, and using the research‐action methodology. The results showed that the PISS under review needs to review some procedures regarding its management, but also points to the urgency of the redefinition of objectives and to the inevitability of a valorisation/modernisation of the facilities.
