Abstract(s)
This report presents the process of studying the collection Ateliers Marques Abreu & Cª of José Antunes Marques Abreu (1879-1958) and son José Marques Abreu Júnior (1909-1969). The work developed by them is part of the History of Photography in Oporto, both of which are precursors of a documentary report through photography and photogravure of national historical monuments. The study of this collection is based on the principles, norms and techniques of archival, which are applied towards the collection, analysis, identification, organization, description, storage and divulgation. The archivist allows the elaboration of several research instruments that aim to identify, locate and summarize, to different degrees, collections, sections, series and documentary units in a file, these are a form of description, being the only one feasible way to reach users. The CPF is involved in the preservation of the photographic heritage, whose mission is to safeguard, enhance and promote it. Marques Abreu is an integral part of this heritage, identifying the need for its conservation, analysis and divulgation. Based on a study on the authors and using international standards of the International Archives Council, ISAD (G) and SEPIADES, a census of documentation was carried out in a Data Collection Sheet, which assists the physical analysis and the study of the constituent elements. The census obtained will serve as a basis for a subsequent inventory that will be classified, described and published on the DigitArq platform, so that it becomes accessible to users by showing the works and the path of the photographers.
