Quality of life is a construct that has been much debated and that has caused persistent challenges in the realization of a definition. Due to its multidimensional character, and because its nature comprises the physical, economic, mental, social, environmental, among others, and not least, because this construct depends on the values and perceptions of the individuals involved, a consensual definition has not yet emerged among the various areas of knowledge that have been concerned with its study over the last decades, and ranging from psychology, health, sociology, economics, politics, among others. The decision of elderly tourists to travel is compromised by their perception of well-being and quality of life. In this sense, it is essential that, in measuring the quality of life of the elderly population, the following dimensions of well-being are considered: social well-being; physical well-being; psychological well-being; spiritual well-being; cognitive well-being; and well-being in the family environment. Considering the assumptions of (Kelley-Gillespie in Appl. Res. Qual. Life 4:259–282, 2009), a questionnaire was elaborated that was applied to 917 senior tourists, from the north of Portugal and Galicia, to understand when their profile influences the dimensions of well-being considered and, therefore, their perception of quality of life. The results revealed the importance of sociodemographic variables: qualifications, employment status, income, and country of residence, as positive constraints in the perception of the quality of life of senior tourists.pt_PT
