Abstract(s)
a nível ambiental.
In the Automotive Industry, and in all other industries linked to it, an increase in competitiveness and the obligation to comply with environmental requirements is increasingly felt. Efforts to increase the lifespan of the products are greater than ever. This dissertation was developed around this real need, seeking to gather information that allows an increase in the lifespan of electrical terminal crimping tools for the Automotive Industry. The process to achieve the objective of the practical work began with the collection of samples from the main competitors of Ricardo & Barbosa in the market, to be able to analyze and characterize them. Subsequently, brainstorming sessions were carried out, where it was defined which alternative samples would be produced, analyzed, and characterized. Later, new crimping tools were produced at different stages of production, to study the importance and impact of the finishing stages of the production process. Finally, new samples were produced, put to the test at an R&B customer and advanced characterization tests were done, which allowed a better understanding of the evolution of tool wear during its lifetime. In conclusion, the present dissertation contributed to a better clarification of the lifespan of R&B's crimping tools, making it possible to identify potential signs of wear and, consequently, guarantee a better quality of their crimping punches
