Abstract(s)
This report describes all the activities developed during the academic year of 2016/17 at Academia de Música/Escola Profissional de Música de Espinho, regarding the educational practices developed on instruments teaching (clarinet). Supervised training create an opportunity for a reflection on pedagogic models which could improve the process of music learning and performance. This Interventional Project born following my personal concerns regarding the need to improve the interest / motivation and Clarinet learning practices of my youngest students. The main objective was to provide to the students the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities while enhancing their motivation to pursue their musical studies. The foundation of a Clarinet Ensemble targeting students at the basic level of school resulted from some individual research conducted about the impact of playful activities as a pedagogic complement. My goal was to introduce a fun element that could enrich their musical practice while boosting their motivation and passion for music. The action plan developed to implement this project required an action-based research methodology, where the researcher takes a simultaneous dual role as advisor and mediator. This project aimed to demonstrate that group activities represent a key part of music performance activities and carry huge benefits for student’s motivation, even in the context of homogeneous groups as this ensemble. It is also expected that such practices can also yield important contributions for sociocultural and affective growth of their intervenients.
