Abstract(s)
Com a curta-metragem de ficção iMad, projeto final do Mestrado em Comunicação Audiovisual, nas vertentes de Produção e Realização, quisemos realizar um filme de ficção que abordasse a pertinente e atual relação do homem com o desenvolvimento tecnológico, de resto, uma temática emergente no cinema contemporâneo, inspirada pelo clima de mudança face à crise atual e a uma incerteza quanto às consequências do tremendo desenvolvimento da ciência.
Neste ensaio, a partir do estudo da narrativa literária e da sua relação com a linguagem cinematográfica, procurou-se identificar a forma diegética mais adequada às temáticas refletidas no filme, como são a ficção especulativa, a ficção futurista ou as realidades alternativas.
Além disso, com iMad, um filme que aglutina uma multiplicidade de géneros, sobretudo o filme noir, o policial e um certo expressionismo kafkiano, a opção por um registo narrativo e visual alegórico, levado quase ao limite da verosimilhança (devido à premissa que explora: a proibição abrupta do uso do papel), em última análise, questiona-se o próprio cinema como uma forma de expressão artística em risco (ou não) devido a este futuro incerto.
The short-film iMad is the final project for a Master’s degree, on the subject of Production and Film Making, in which we aimed to create a fictional movie about the relationship between human relations and the technological medium, due to the modernity of this theme on the contemporary cinema, which have been inspired by the uncertainty regarding the scientific evolution. In this essay we started from the literary narrative and its connection with the language of cinema, in order to find the best diegetic mode, likewise speculative fiction, futuristic fiction or alternate realities. Moreover, with iMad, a film that gathers a multiplicity of genre, specially the noir, crime and a certain kafkaesque expressionism, we chose to use an allegoric and narrative vision, taking it to the limits of reality (due to its premise: the sudden prohibition of paper), challenging the very concept of cinema as an artistic form in danger facing an uncertain future.
