Abstract(s)
The purpose of developing this scientific study to investigate causes and effects of absenteeism due to mental disorders in IFMT employees arose from the observation of numerous cases that occurred with close colleagues and the inertia of management, also observed, in relation to the growing number of cases. This study analyzes absenteeism related to mental disorders among employees of the Federal Institute of Mato Grosso (IFMT), highlighting the influence of structural and organizational factors on the mental health of workers. The investigation was conducted based on data collected through questionnaires applied to a representative sample of civil servants, in addition to the documentary analysis of records of leaves due to mental disorders. The results revealed a significant prevalence of absenteeism among women, especially in teaching roles and in intermediate age groups, suggesting a correlation between gender inequality, career progression, and mental health. In addition, excessive workload and inadequate infrastructure were identified as the main sources of dissatisfaction, contributing to the development of disorders such as burnout. The study's conclusions highlight the urgent need for management interventions that promote gender equity, improve working conditions, and provide psychological support to staff, such as psychological support programs, flexible working hours for women, infrastructure improvements, and training to promote gender equity and career progression without overload. The implementation of inclusive policies and the promotion of a healthy work environment are essential to reduce the impact of mental disorders and improve institutional efficiency.
