Abstract(s)
Implementado num lugar estratégico e marcado pela forte presença do Rio Leça, o Mosteiro de Leça do Balio, baluarte da arquitetura religiosa e militar, marca a transição do românico para o gótico em Portugal. É classificado como Monumento Nacional em 1910 e a sua construção, datada do século XIV, impulsionada pelo Frei D. Estevão Vasques Pimentel. Inicialmente foi sede dos Religiosos Cavaleiros de São João de Jerusalém, ligada aos conventos. É hoje, propriedade do Estado servindo igualmente de igreja paroquial. Partindo da crença de que o património só é realmente protegido quando as pessoas compreendem a sua importância e pugnam pela sua perenidade, a criação de um Centro Interpretativo que perpetue a memória, é o objetivo deste projeto para o Mosteiro de Leça do Balio. Um núcleo devidamente valorizado a nível científico e curatorial, a ser implementado na torre do mosteiro, deve sustentar uma leitura integral de todo o espaço, permitindo complementar a experiência cultural e espiritual do visitante desta igreja. A relevância da investigação histórica e descritiva deverá ser suplementada com a recolha de diferentes fontes de informação, mormente utilizando o storytelling com cariz de ligação emocional, recorrendo a uma identificação e seleção de pessoas locais de diferentes idades e com várias relações ao monumento.
O coração deste projeto passa pela fuga das representações excessivamente historicistas de outros, através de uma abordagem apoiada na sociologia e antropologia, utilizando a educação social e a intervenção comunitária para a importância da preservação e dinamização patrimonial. O cumprimento deste desiderato também será ditado pelo envolvimento do coletivo no presente, resultando numa narração que faça jus ao passado, mas aliado à perspetiva de futuro, sendo os recetores intervenientes e meio de evolução do local.
Located in a strategic place and marked by the strong presence of the Leça River, the Leça do Balio Monastery, in a religious and military architecture, represents the transition from Romanesque to the Gothic period in Portugal. It was classified as a National Monument in 1910 and its construction dating from the 14th century, was promoted by Friar D. Estevão Vasques Pimentel. It was initially the headquarters of the Religious Knights of St. John of Jerusalem, in an initial function linked to the convents. Based on the truly and fight for its perpetuity, the creation of an interpretation center that perpetuates memory is the goal of this project for the monastery of Leça do Balio. A space, appropriately valued on a scientific and curatorial level to be implanted in the monastery’s tower, should sustain an integral reading of the entire space, allowing to complement the cultural and spiritual experience of the visitor of this church. The relevance of the historical and descriptive research should be complemented with the collection with the collection of different sources of information, mainly using storytelling, with an emotional link using identification and selection with local people, of different ages and with several relations to the monument. The heart of this project is the escape from excessively historicist representations of others, through an approach based on sociology and anthropology, using social education and community intervention aimed at preserving and boosting fulfilment of this desideratum will also be dictated by involvement in the present, resulting in a narration that does justice the past, but allied to the perspective of the future, with the recipients, being interveners and means of evolution of the place Keywords: Community; Promotion;
