Abstract(s)
An object is considered inert due to our inability to perceive the slow changes in its materiality. A mountain appears the same, just like a stone, but geological cycles are also ongoing, occurring simultaneously with organic cycles, even if they are not visible to the naked eye. Assuming that objects are not merely the images we see in our brains, but also the process of their creation, Pedra Dura: Speculative Listening of a Transforming Landscape investigates the intersection between sound art and geological processes, exploring the relationship between materiality, erosion, and artistic intervention in the landscape of SĆ£o Paio in Labruge, based on the contours of the stones.
