Abstract(s)
Esta dissertação, realizada para a obtenção do Grau de Mestre em Engenharia Mecânica, na
área de especialização em Gestão Industrial, teve como objetivo identificar as práticas de
gestão de projetos ao longo do seu ciclo de vida, decorrentes de diferentes abordagens, e
compreender a sua contribuição para o sucesso dos projetos organizacionais. Para o
desenvolvimento do estudo foi adotada uma metodologia qualitativa e indutiva, considerada
adequada ao horizonte temporal e à natureza da dissertação. A recolha de dados foi efetuada
através de entrevistas semiestruturadas, que permitiram assegurar o rigor necessário para
responder aos objetivos e, simultaneamente, possibilitar a emergência de novos temas
relevantes. Os resultados evidenciaram fatores determinantes para o sucesso dos projetos e da
sua gestão, nomeadamente os critérios de avaliação de sucesso, a seleção criteriosa e adequada
de abordagens e práticas, a sua interdependência, a maturidade organizacional e as
competências essenciais do gestor de projetos. Constatou-se também como as diferentes
práticas impactam o sucesso dos projetos, identificando convergências, divergências e lacunas
quando comparadas com a revisão bibliográfica, reforçando a relevância de uma utilização
integrada e contextualizada das práticas de gestão de projetos para atingir o sucesso em
projetos organizacionais.
This dissertation, developed as part of the requirements for the Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a specialisation in Industrial Management, aimed to identify project management practices throughout the project life cycle, stemming from different approaches, and to understand their contribution to the success of organisational projects. A qualitative and inductive methodology was adopted for the study, considered appropriate given the timeframe and the nature of the dissertation. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews, which ensured the necessary rigour to meet the research objectives while also allowing the emergence of new relevant themes. The results highlighted key factors that determine the success of projects and their management, including success evaluation criteria, the careful and appropriate selection of approaches and practices, their interdependence, organisational maturity, and the essential competencies of the project manager. Furthermore, it was observed how different practices impact project success, identifying convergences, divergences, and gaps when compared with the literature review, reinforcing the relevance of an integrated and contextualised use of project management practices to achieve success in organisational projects.
