Este trabalho tem como objetivo identificar e refletir sobre a participação que as crianças têm num centro de acolhimento.
Na revisão teórica, procura-se definir conceito de participação, as fases a ele associadas e os seus princípios. Ressalva-se ainda a importância da participação da criança, para assegurar o seu desenvolvimento integral. Nesse seguimento, faz-se uma breve abordagem à promoção e proteção das crianças, ao sistema de acolhimento residencial e à participação neste contexto específico.
A investigação empírica foi realizada num centro de acolhimento, onde se procuraram determinar as perceções dos elementos da equipa técnica, da equipa educativa e das crianças.
A partir dos resultados da investigação, constrói-se uma linha orientadora para elaborar um plano de ação para o centro de acolhimento em causa, definindo-se um conjunto de atividades para promover a participação das crianças no centro de acolhimento.
Em suma, a realização deste trabalho procura assinalar e promover a participação nas instituições sociais, pois só desta forma é que possível melhorar o funcionamento da instituição e o desenvolvimento social e pessoal das crianças.
This work aims to identify and reflect on the participation that children have in a care center. In the theoretical review, we seek to define the concept of participation, the phases associated with it and its principles. The importance of children's participation is also stressed to ensure their integral development. Following this, a brief approach is given to the promotion and protection of children, the residential care system and participation in this specific context. The empirical research was carried out in a care center, where the aim was to determine the perceptions of the staff, the educational team and the children. From the results of the research, a guideline is built to draw up an action plan for the host center concerned, defining a set of activities to promote the participation of children in the care center. In short, this work seeks to signal and promote participation in social institutions. Only in this way is it possible to improve the functioning of the institution and the social and personal development of children.
