Abstract(s)
In recent years, there has been a growing trend for companies to build industrial pavilions. It is common for industrial pavilions to be designed leaving aesthetics aside. As a result, the structure as a whole is the responsibility of the design engineer, who is responsible for minimize costs, and for this he has at his disposal numerous structural solutions to the same problem. Using the automatic calculation software Robot Structural Analysis® and based on the structural Eurocodes NP EN 1995-1-1:2022 and NP EN 1993-1-1:2010, the modeling and design of isolated structural elements was perfomed, namely frames, trusses, in different structural materials, specifically steel and wood, of an industrial pavilion with the dimensions 84x30x9.20 m, located in Maia, which underwent expansion works. It was also carried out the design of steel purlins with the Constalica's MaxBox software, and of wooden purlins with the Microsoft Excel software. The variables weight|volume and painting area were chosen for the comparative analysis of the different structural solutions. For the weight variable , the isolated structural elements in steel, truss in the X direction, truss in the Y direction and frame in the X direction have a higher weight compared to the same wooden elements, 26,50%, 41% and 91% respectively. Regarding purlins, the wooden elements weight approximately 38% more than the steel elements. For the painting area variable, the isolated structural elements in wood, truss in the X direction and truss in the Y direction have a higher painting area compared to the same steel elements, 26% and 51% respectively.
