Abstract(s)
do século XX, Levkó Revutsky e Boris Lyatoshinsky.
This research project aims to introduce the importance of the Ukrainian composers of the 20th century, Levkó Revutsky and Boris Lyatoshinsky, in which historical context they will insert and present their piano preludes. Revutsky’s preludes belong to his initial compositional phase. At the time he composed them, despite having been influenced by the composers P. I. Tchaikovsky, A. Scriabin, S. Rachmaninov and F. Chopin, the Revutsky already manifested a more subjective style both in terms of harmony and expressiveness. Lyatoshinsky’s preludes were composed during the Second World War, when he was in exile in Saratov. The composer puts Ukrainian folklore to use and exposes the pain and hope that lie in his soul, as well as the nostalgia he has for his own country. Both composers, despite being practically unknown outside Ukraine, stand out for their contribution to the development of Ukrainian music in the 20th century.
