Abstract(s)
pessoal.
(Re)Criar e Evocar" (Ação 1) e "Ao Encontro do Outro" (Ação 2). A Ação 1 "(Re)Pensar, (Re)Criar e
e pessoal.
ln the present report entitled "Existing Without Being Seen," a social intervention project developed in a Day Center is presented, aiming to counteract processes of isolation and disempowerment, fostering social interaction, participation, and personal empowerment. The initial assessment identified the following issues: feelings of loneliness, low self-esteem and limited self-worth, inadequate professional practices, and poor living conditions for Mr. Manuel. Based on these issues, four main objectives were defined: to reduce feelings of loneliness by strengthening social relationships; to promote self-confidence and personal empowerment; to encourage reflective practices among the institution's staff; and to enhance the well-being of Mr. Manuel, one of the participants, through individualized psychosocial support. To achieve these objectives, two distinct actions were developed: "(Re)Think, (Re)Create, and Evoke" (Action 1) and "Meeting the Other" (Action 2). Action 1, "(Re)Think, (Re)Create, and Evoke," focused on the group of elderly participants and the technical team, with the aim of rethinking institutional practices and developing new intervention approaches by evoking memories and valuing participants' life experiences and knowledge. Action 2 emerged from a psychosocial intervention with a Day Center participant, Mr. Manuel, aiming to address and mitigate his experience of social exclusion and isolation. This project followed a participatory action-research methodology, actively involving the participants in its development, making them key agents of their own social and personal transformation.
