Abstract(s)
quotidianas.
A Aldeia consists of a photographic work that addresses issues related to identity, the look on the other and the look that the other has on us. The aspiration for the realization of this project consists in the need to understand the context of "beauty", and its influence in the construction of identity and representation of the individual. Given this choice, the project explores the context of "beauty" in the elderly. There is a strong desire to fight aging, and the growth of cosmetic companies is proof of this. For example, an anti-aging cream has the function, according to cosmetics companies, of helping to preserve the beauty and youthfulness of the skin, but is there only beauty in youth and a youthful appearance? As it is possible to read in the Exit magazine "the cult of the body, the will to not grow old, to remain attractive, shapes a society in which youth is a value practically quoted on the stock exchange" (Exit, 2012), it can be said that there is a need to achieve eternal youth, or else, to prevent time from passing so quickly on our face. To uphold these ideals, the project is carried out with senior citizens in the village of Soalhães, in Marco de Canaveses, and consists of a photographic work with a group of thirteen women who were made up and arranged as a way to enhance their figure, and thus, in collaboration with the community, eight sessions were held with different people, where portraits were taken of people who were put to the test to be made up and dressed in a different way from the way they expose themselves on a daily basis. The way these people are produced seems decontextualized from the reality that surrounds them, a reality that is their daily lives.
