Abstract(s)
Human life is characterized by its ephemerality. Our passage through time leaves marks, more or less revealing of our brief existence, like particles that hover in the air, or trails that fade. This condition, inherent to our existence, which has accompanied us since we were born and which has always worried humanity. A theme that fascinates authors and artists and has been materialized in several artistic and literary works, although it is not very evident in interactive media. This work focuses on this theme, exploring it in the dimension of interactive media, seeking to sensitize the passengers of the now, to the traces of the passage of the passengers of the past, crossing their spatio—temporal existence. The theoretical objective of this installation is to investigate how participants, by interacting with material and sensory traces of past moments, can create meanings and ways of understanding the ephemerality of human life. The project aims to sensitize the "passengers of the now" to the transitory condition of life and memories, and how these, even distorted by time, continue to shape our perception of the present through immersion in an experience that seeks debate and exploration by the participants. The practical component of this work reflects directly on its theoretical principle: by leafing through a diary and exploring a drawer with sand and objects, which refer to personal memories, the participants become agents in the process of recreation and resignification of memories. The act of interacting with these traces allows them to perceive the fragility of memories and, at the same time, to question how these memories — even if fragmented — can arouse emotions about the past. The creative process and the methodology adopted thus seek to create a bridge between the past and the present, where the ephemeral is experienced and understood in a tangible way. This work has as its final objective not only the construction of an interactive installation, but also the study of the relationship between memory, ephemerality and interactivity, in a context where visitors can reflect on the impact of memories in the formation of their own perception of time.
