Este projeto propõe uma análise multifacetada sobre a arte da criação. Conjugando a vertente prática da produção musical com o universo teórico relativo ao processo criativo. O objetivo desta tese, realizada em formato de projeto, consiste na criação de um álbum conceptual e, posteriormente, enquadramento teórico em temáticas relativas à criatividade e expressão. Procura-se, então, produzir um objeto sonoro e perceber qual a influência dos dois universos conceptuais mencionados anteriormente no processo criativo.
Elabora-se um retrato da criação de um objeto sonoro, apresentando o seu conceito, o universo intersubjetivo onde surge, com múltiplas influências, as suas diversas etapas e músicas que lhe dão forma. De seguida, é dinamizada uma contextualização teórica, que motiva reflexões associadas à sua conexão com o domínio prático do processo criativo.
Ao longo deste projeto, que resultou num álbum constituído por 11 temas musicais, é retratado o universo aleatório do surgimento de ideias como uma das maiores dificuldades para a definição de uma fórmula para a criatividade. Perante isso, atribui-se elevada importância à consistência do trabalho como um dos motores para o seu “aparecimento”, sendo possível verificá-la em momentos de ultrapassagem de barreiras/problemas. No domínio da expressão, este documento sublinha a importância de uma abordagem abrangente ao conteúdo presente num objeto sonoro, afirmando que a forma e estrutura de uma obra, associadas ao domínio extramusical, possibilitam à música um universo extenso, questionando-a como possível linguagem. Deste modo, produzem-se reflexões associadas ao processo criativo relativo ao álbum musical, não procurando fórmulas objetivas, mas sim perceber como é que a criatividade e expressão se manifestaram neste contexto.
This project proposes a multifaceted analysis about the art of creation, combining the practical aspect of music production with the theoretical universe related to the creative process. The objective of this thesis, presented on project-format, is the creation of a conceptual album, followed by a theoretical framework on themes related to creativity and expression. The aim of this project of investigation is to produce a musical object and understand the influence in the creative process of these two conceptual universes mentioned earlier. A portrait of the creation of a musical album is elaborated, presenting its concept, the intersubjective universe from which it emerges, with multiple musical influences, its various stages, and the songs that belong to it. Subsequently, a theoretical contextualization is developed, giving life to reflections on its connection with the practical domain of the creative process. Throughout this project, which resulted in an album consisting of 11 musical tracks, the unpredictable nature of creative inspiration and idea emergence is portrayed as one of the greatest difficulties in defining a formula for creativity. Consequently, high importance is placed on consistent hard-work and craft development as one of the engines for its “demonstration”. Creativity can be identified in breakthrough moments that symbolize the overcoming of difficulties. These moments are only possible if one has the determination and work consistency, developing his mind and creative practice to benefit from those “eureka” flashes. In the realm of expression, this document emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive approach to the content that defines a musical piece, asserting that the form and structure of a work needs to be associated with its extramusical content, providing an extensive musical universe, possible of being experienced. Thus, reflections associated with the creative process related to the musical album are produced, not seeking objective formulas, but rather understanding how creativity and expression manifested in this context.
