Abstract(s)
This study analyses the potential of music as a pedagogical tool to support the learning of English as a foreign language among young learners in Portuguese primary education, based on a supervised teaching practice experience. The studies referenced provide an understanding of the relationship between music and language and present the benefits that music has in teaching and learning. In this sense, it is explained how this aspect provides a more dynamic and motivating teaching environment, how it arouses students' attention and promotes the assimilation of vocabulary and sentence structures, contributing to a meaningful learning experience. The research methodologies applied are qualitative and quantitative, given the researcher's active involvement in this process and the diversity of instruments used to collect data, including the following: a) records of practices (photographs and videos); b) logbook; c) questionnaire to students. Thus, the findings highlight the positive impact of music on learners’ motivation, vocabulary retention, and linguistic skills development.
