Abstract(s)
A metodologia Seis Sigma Ć© uma abordagem de gestĆ£o, orientada para a melhoria dos produtos, processos e serviƧos de uma organizaĆ§Ć£o, com o objetivo de reduzir continuamente defeitos e obter benefĆcios financeiros quantificĆ”veis (Anand, 2006; Goh et al. 2003; Linderman et al. 2006). Existem definiƧƵes de Seis Sigma mais focadas nas suas mĆ©tricas, enquanto que outras mais focadas em questƵes metodolĆ³gicas. A definiĆ§Ć£o de Seis Sigma como Abordagem de GestĆ£o abrange as restantes, pelo que serĆ” a adotada no decurso deste trabalho.
De acordo com os objetivos da sua implementaĆ§Ć£o o Seis Sigma poderĆ” ser desenvolvido atravĆ©s de diferentes metodologias. Caso a sua implementaĆ§Ć£o seja direcionada para a melhoria da eficĆ”cia dos processos, recorre-se ao mĆ©todo DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analize, Improve and Control), enquanto que se alĆ©m da eficĆ”cia, se visa tambĆ©m a eficiĆŖncia, aplicar-se-Ć£o em conjunto tĆ©cnicas oriundas do Lean Management (Lean Six Sigma). Quando se pretende enfase na inovaĆ§Ć£o, aplicam-se as metodologias DSFSS (Design For Six Sigma) utilizando as metodologias DMADV (Design, Measure, Analyse and Improve) e IDOV (Identify, Design, Optimize and Validate).
Apesar de associada a grandes empresas e grandes retornos, o Seis Sigma parece ainda nĆ£o ter vingado no tecido empresarial portuguĆŖs.
Este estudo teve como principal objetivo verificar o grau de disseminaĆ§Ć£o do Seis Sigma nas pequenas e mĆ©dias empresas portuguesas e constatar quais as motivaƧƵes que levaram Ć adoĆ§Ć£o ou nĆ£o desta metodologia. A populaĆ§Ć£o alvo do estudo foi as PME ExcelĆŖncia 2012, tendo-se utilizado como ferramenta de recolha de dados o questionĆ”rio online.
AtravĆ©s desta investigaĆ§Ć£o, verificou-se que as PMEs nĆ£o implementam a metodologia Seis Sigma, sendo a principal razĆ£o encontrada o desconhecimento desta metodologia por parte dos administradores e responsĆ”veis da qualidade.
Six Sigma is a disciplined approach for dramatically reducing defects and producing measurable financial results (Anand, 2006; Goh et al. 2003; Linderman et al. 2006). There are other Six Sigma definitions some more oriented toward methodologies (e.g.) a) DMAIC-Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control for effectiveness improvements; b) Lean Six Sigma fore effectiveness and efficiency improvements; c) DFSS- Design For Six Sigma using DMADV- Design, Measure, Analyze and Improve for incremental improvements and IDOV- Identify, Design, Optimize and Validate for radical improvement). Other definitions focus on metrics like process capabilities. Six Sigma definition as a Management Approach incorporates the other definitions and will be used as the framework for this research. Although itās associated with big companies and considerable Return on Investments (ROI), there is not enough evidence of Six Sigma utilization within Portuguese companies. This study aimed to check the degree of spread of Six Sigma in small and medium Portuguese companies, and see what are the motivations that led to the adoption or non-adoption of this methodology. The study target population was the SME Excellence 2012 and it was used the online questionnaire as data collection tool. Through this research, it was found that SMEs do not implement the Six Sigma methodology, been the main reason the lack of knowledge by the administrators and quality managers.
