Abstract(s)
Otaku
português numa
perspetiva do turismo.
e, assim, caraterizar o perfil do
Otaku
português. Após a investigação realizada,
concluímos que o
otaku
português é maioritariamente do sexo masculino, jovem e
Japan has a multifaceted culture, with ancient traditions. Although rooted in Chinese culture, geographical distance has enabled Japan to build a differentiated cultural model, and its roots and values persist even with the constant technological developments. Consequently, Japanese culture is a target of interest and international study. As the Portuguese culture, the Japanese people have a very rich history and many traditions, so this culture has been the subject of research for a long time, Japan is a conservative country, but now due to the access to the internet and the ease of finding articles, information and news, we are starting to being able to know this mystical and hidden country. Within Japan there is a subculture called Otaku, which literally translates can go from gaming to computers, in Japan. Outside Japan this word is associated with people who have a very deep interest in anime, video games, cosplays, manga and j-pop (Japanese pop music), so people who have such interests are known as Otakus. The choice of this theme focus is due to the inexistence or very little studies about the Portuguese Otakus mainly in the area of tourism, an area that is growing with each passing year in Portugal and in that perspective Otaku Tourism is a niche of the market that should grow due the great interest that the Otaku subculture has been gaining in recent years. This project aims to study Portuguese Otaku from a tourism perspective. Once we identify the intentions of those who have traveled or intend to travel to Japan, and we understand their motivations and the places they would like to visit, we can define the profile of the Portuguese Otaku. This investigation allowed us to conclude that the Portuguese otaku is mostly male, young and has a high level of education. It appears that Akihabara and Kyoto are the preferred places for those who have already traveled or intend to travel to Japan.
