Este trabalho explora a importância do património natural como guardião da história e cultura da Citânia de Sanfins, um dos mais importantes sítios arqueológicos da cultura castreja no Noroeste Peninsular. A citânia, fundada no século I aC e ocupando cerca de 15 a 18 hectares numa colina de afloramentos graníticos, não foi apenas uma referência cultural e arqueológica, mas também um espaço onde a biodiversidade continua a desempenhar um papel crucial na vida dos seus habitantes.
Desde as atividades económicas, como a agricultura e a gestão de recursos naturais, até a organização social, o ambiente natural influenciou significativamente o desenvolvimento da citânia e a subsistência das comunidades que ali viveram. A relação entre a fauna e a flora locais e os povos da citânia reflete-se em tradições, usos sustentáveis dos recursos e práticas de subsistência.
Este estudo/tese pretende descrever e valorizar o património natural da Citânia de Sanfins ao desenvolver ferramentas que proporcionem uma experiência imersiva e educativa aos visitantes, incluindo mapas interpretativos da biodiversidade existente, uma aplicação com vídeos em 360º, painéis interativos e mini-guias. Através desta abordagem, o objetivo é destacar como o património natural pode ser uma porta de entrada para a compreensão da história deste local, promovendo a sua preservação e turismo sustentável.
This work aims to ascertain the importance of natural heritage as a guardian of the history and culture of the Citânia de Sanfins, one of the most significant archaeological sites regarding Castro culture in the northwest of the lberian Peninsula. Founded in I b.C. and occupying around 15 to 18 hectares on a hill of granite outcrops, the Citânia was not only a cultural and archaeological reference but also a space where biodiversity continues to thrive and plays a crucial role in the life and identity of its former inhabitants. From economic activities, such as agriculture and the management of natural resources, to social organization, the natural environment significantly influenced the development of the settlement and the subsistence of the communities that lived there. The relationship between the local fauna, flora and the people living in the Citânia de Sanfins is reflected in traditions, sustainable use of resources, and subsistence practices. This dissertation aims to enhance the natural heritage of Citânia de Sanfins by developing toais that provide visitors with an immersive and educational experience, including interpretative biodiversity maps, a mobile app with 360º video, interactive paneis, and mini-guides. Through this approach, the objective is to highlight how natural heritage can serve as a gateway to understanding the site's history, promoting its preservation and sustainable tourism.
