Abstract(s)
La traumatización vicaria está muy poco investigada en el campo de la
interpretación. Es la falta de información sobre este concepto la que lleva a la creación
de este trabajo, que tiene como objetivo principal ofrecer una introducción sobre este
trastorno psicopatológico, sus características principales y efectos en profesionales de
la mediación lingüística, concretamente en intérpretes. Para esto, se presenta una
definición de trauma vicario junto con posibles ámbitos de estrés para intérpretes,
seguidos de ejemplos en diferentes situaciones y entornos, así como un apartado
relativo al tratamiento general para el trastorno que existe en la actualidad. El trabajo
se cierra con una propuesta de intervención específica para intérpretes.
Vicarious trauma remains under-researched in the field of interpreting. It is the lack of information on this concept that has led to this paper, whose main aim is to provide an introduction to this psychopathological disorder, covering its main features and its effects on language mediation professionals, especially interpreters. Vicarious trauma is firstly defined, including the possible areas of stress for interpreters, followed by examples taken from different situations and environments, as well as a section detailing the current general treatment for the disorder. The dissertation closes with a specific proposal of intervention for interpreters.
