Abstract(s)
Currently, the terms āqualityā and āmanagementā have gained relevance in the context of organizations. The implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS) allows organizations to achieve transparency about how they operate and what they can produce, making them more credible than organizations without a QMS. This project arises within the scope of the Master of Mechanical Engineering in the area of Industrial Management and its main objective is to carry out a study to analyze the perception of companies certified by the ISO 9001:2015 standard regarding the state in which they are in terms of compliance with criteria of the European Foundation for Quality Management Model (EFQM Model). The EFQM Model is recommended as a tool for self-assessment and continuous improvement of organizations, which makes it a useful tool to assess the Total Quality Management (TQM) of an organization. This project was aimed at ISO 9001:2015 certified companies in Portugal. An online questionnaire was applied, resulting in a sample of 109 companies. The statistical analysis of the data made it possible to highlight the main difficulties and benefits achieved with the implementation of the QMS, as well as to collect a self-assessment of the companies in terms of compliance with the criteria of the EFQM Model. As a main conclusion, it should be noted that more than half of the companies are not aware of what the EFQM Model is about. This study contributes to the understanding of these two management models in Portugal, both ISO 9001:2015 and the EFQM Model, and highlights the need for companies to invest in these areas.
