Teixeira, Carina Sofia Pereira; Dias, Alcina Augusta de Sena PortugalThis project focus on the implementation of a shared services center for the “STANDEX” group, which operates from Portugal for the EMEA Region (Europe, Middle East and Africa). This is a dissertation project, with real application. The growth of SSC implementations in Portugal has been considerable in the last years and since the author is participating actively in a SSC implementation process for the group she works for, deepening the knowledge on this topic, has shown to be interesting and motivating, thus converting into an added value, both professional and academic. Specifically, the process of creating the EMEA Shared Service Center (SSC) started in mid-2020, and has suffered some delays, due to several factors, mainly due to the circulation restrictions imposed by the Covid 19 pandemic. During the execution of this project, the objectives were defined to understand if there are fiscal and social reasons for the location of shared service centers, if the human resources, financial and technological management of the SSC is difficult and, finally, if the quality of the services provided by the SSC is essential to its success. To this end, a qualitative methodology was used. As a source and since it is a project the collection and analysis of the institution's documentation was performed. In this work, the implementation phases outlined by the management are referred to, as well as the main reasons and the expected advantages. The phases of transitioning the processes from the local units to the new SSC are described, the main obstacles. This project becomes important for its practical applicability.
